Nestled in the old part of downtown still scattered with retro homes from the 1970's stands an unique place to get ice cream in Las Vegas. Luv-It Custard has been around since 1973. Pull up to the old blue house with bars on the windows, you will think its closed but the walk up window is on the side of the house. We ordered the special root beer custard in waffle and sugar cones. This is a great way to get off the strip and enjoy something from Vegas bygone days, also check out the nearby arts district.
Playa De Las Muertos "Beach of the Dead"
Playa De Los Muertos is a quiet beach away from the crowds and street vendors. Accessed at the south end of the beach, you must pass the cemetery to get to the Beach of the Dead. To get there look for the fishing boats, you'll see a small set of stairs that leads to a road. Keep going uphill towards and through Villa Amour and finally to the cemetery. Watch for the signs that will guide you to the beach.
Releasing Baby Turtles in Mexico 🐢
Campanemento Tortuguero Sayulita is a group of local volunteers in Sayulita, Mexico that are saving the sea turtles from poachers by scooping up their eggs during the evening hours before poachers get to them. The group then buries the eggs on their property, which takes the 45 days to hatch.
You can release a turtle at sunset on the north end of the beach. By doing this the group brings the odds of the sea turtle from 1 and 1,000 survival rate to 1 and 100. To find out what days the turtles will be released you can check out the Campamento Tortuguero Sayulita Project Facebook Page.
Story to the sea turtle: Dear Sea Turtle, I hope you make the odds. When I first saw you were in a red dish, you looked so sad and lifeless. As I carefully tipped your dish you climbed out slowly at first. But then you came alive with the sound of the sea, you moved your flippers faster and faster surpassing all the others till finally you made it there, I watched as the waves covered you in an embrace. Where you went from there I won't ever know!

The 3 Wildest Night Clubs in Berlin
DJ James Demon- BIO
Being a big dreamer and daring to follow my dreams, I relocated from the west coast USA to Berlin, Germany to pursue my interest in techno music and to manifest my dream of running my own record label. Nothing really prepared me for what I was about to experience in this beautiful and crazy city. Berlin is probably one of the last urban paradises that has an equal amount of nature and urban mixture to please anyone.
One thing Berlin is famous for is its booming nightlife that attracts techno tourists from far and wide, especially in the summer months when hundreds of clubs around the city come alive with people who want nothing more than a weekend of ravers delight. After four years in the city, I have created a top 3 list of the best clubs worth visiting while in Berlin.
Berghain
First, of course, is one of the most famous techno clubs in the world, though many jaded Berliners might frown upon my first pick, that club is of course Berghain. Love it or hate it, this club is very special because there is no place like it in the world. Having done a fair amount of traveling as a techno tourist myself I can attest to the fact that it is a very special place.
The huge club provides two dance floors. There is the main floor where pulsating techno music will bring you into a state of dancing frenzy that becomes like some sort of occult ritual, if harder techno isn’t your dish then go upstairs to Panorama Bar for its full bar menu and hear music that can range from disco, house, and all in between. Finally, don’t forget to go to the snack bar for some ice cream or snacks in between moments on the dance floor. As in most Berlin clubs, pictures are not allowed so don’t expect to record any memories of your experience there. Sometimes we need to experience instead of document.
About Blank
Photo: Juska Wendland
My next choice is a club special to my heart that has one of the most amazing garden areas where wild blackberries grow in the summer months. That club is About Blank, which features some of the cities best parties from Buttons to Staub. The club features three dance floors. One of the dance floors is outside in the garden where during the warmer months you will find daytime events that slowly evolve into the main two floors of the club. There you can find a room with harder techno styles and lighter house in the club salon. Some events at this club last 48 hours so please bring a lot of stamina when coming here and don’t forget to eat at the club during the summer in the garden, serving delicious food from food vendors to keep your energy high on the dance floor.
Heideglühen
Then my final destination Heideglühen takes you a little bit out of the city center but the journey is by far worth it. This space features some of the best house music around and an incredible vibe unlike any other. I love the people I meet in here and the whole experience is like a giant playground for adults who are still kids at heart. Don’t expect to find out the line-up until the day of the party but I can promise you that you won’t be disappointed when you do. You can check out Heideglühen every week and you must sign up for the newsletter to receive the information for the events. They don’t post on Resident Advisor or anything like that.
No matter what you are looking for as far as clubbing goes, Berlin has you covered and even though I’ve just presented to you my top three locations there are many other great spots to choose from. Honorable mentions go to the boat club Hoppetosse and the best club in Neukölln called Griessmuehle.
Where ever you do decide to go when visiting Berlin you are for sure guaranteed to have the time of your life and at some moments it can be too much fun! Don’t expect anything too fancy our clubs are quite raw and expect some of the most disgusting toilets you’ve ever seen in your life but that’s just all part of the charm of this wild city I call home.
Art Walk in the Presidio
Art and nature meet on this 3-mile hike through the Presidio. You can find 4 of Artist Andy Goldsworthy's installations during this hike the "Spire" stands near the Arguello gate in San Francisco's Presidio. Goldsworthy a world renown artist uses site-specific materials found in nature. For this particular installation, the artist used 37 felled Monterey cypress trees which he fastened together to make an impressive 100-foot tall "Spire". The installation, as well as some of the artist's other pieces (Earth Wall, Tree Fall, and Wood Line), can be accessed on a 3-mile hiking loop.

Delicious Wood-Fired Brick Oven Bread
Wildflour Bread is located near Sebastapol in Freestone Valley on Bohemian Highway. The restaurant features brick oven-baked bread, scones, and biscotti. The free bread samples make it easy for deciding what kind you want. We got sticky bun bread, fougasse bread, and a pear scone.
Be prepared for long lines (the bread is that good)! How is it that good; well the oven never cools and even on days they are closed they keep the oven burning. This gives the bread a consistent temperature that bakes it to perfection. The ingredients for each bread makes it hearty and dense, the sticky bun had lost of walnuts and raisins, and the scone had large pieces of pear making it more like a meal.
An added bonus to Wildflour is its outside garden area where you can enjoy your bread among wind chimes, trees, and a beautiful garden.

Floating Down The Russian River
A few weekends ago it was a record-breaking 105 degrees in San Francisco, a great weekend for a trek to the Russian River to cool off. We brought some floating rafts, beer, and snacks. Our favorite spot is in Guerneville on River Road (Hulbert Creek). A mile west from the local Safeway, look for a dirt parking lot on the left and park. From the parking lot, head toward the river. If you stay closer to the houses on the left you’ll see posted signs for the beach. Check out the algae warnings before you go. Here are some additional places to go swimming that I haven't tried yet. Happy Floating!!
